Baking has always been a cathartic pastime for me. I’ve long loved recreating old family recipes and food memories — taking a few simple ingredients and turning them into something comforting and delicious.
After 34 years in the corporate world, I was unexpectedly downsized during a workforce reduction. I approached this unexpected life shift as an opportunity — a chance to pursue a long-held joy of baking and build a small cottage micro-bakery from my home kitchen.
When people ask what kind of things I bake, I often say: the kind of baked goods your grandma would make. The classics. The nostalgic favorites. The simple, from-scratch treats that feel at home on a kitchen table.
The Small Batch Baker focuses on breads, cookies, and cakes made in small quantities with care and intention. Everything is prepared from scratch using quality ingredients and time-honored methods — no shortcuts, no mass production — just good quality baking.
I believe baked goods should feel both special and approachable — something you can bring to a celebration or enjoy quietly with your morning coffee.
